MADISON, WI - June 11 2025 - Rinse and repeat. When the going gets tough, the tough get going.
The 2025 ASA STARS National Tour hits the halfway mark this weekend with a doubleheader showdown at Madison (Wisc.) International Speedway and Slinger Speedway.
For Kyle Steckly and Rette Jones Racing, the back-to-back races offer a crucial opportunity to turn the tide after a frustrating first half of their sophomore ASA STARS campaign.
A fast car but frustrating finish at Hickory Motor Speedway left Kyle Steckly and Rette Jones Racing hungry for redemption at the inaugural ASA STARS event at Newport Raceway in Tennessee.
And while the team walked away with a top-10 result, the outcome still fell short of their expectations.
Now, after nearly three weeks to regroup and prepare for two races in two days, Rette Jones Racing heads back to Madison International Speedway — eager to match or improve on their strong showing at the challenging Wisconsin short track last summer.
“We’ve had speed, but the results haven’t shown what this team is capable of,” said Rette Jones Racing development driver Kyle Steckly.
“Hickory was tough — we had a car that could contend, but things just didn’t fall our way. Newport was a step in the right direction with a top-10, but it still wasn’t the finish we were looking for.
“We’ve had a few weeks to regroup, and now we’re ready to come out swinging at Madison and Slinger. We were solid at Madison last year, and the goal is to build on that and turn our season around.”
To stay sharp, Steckly returned home for a pair of APC Series races, where he showcased his ability in a thrilling photo finish at Delaware Speedway, coming up just 0.001 seconds short of the win.
This past weekend, he returned to Flamboro Speedway—one of his favorite tracks—dominated practice and capped the night with a victory.
With momentum on his side, Steckly hopes his recent success will carry over into the ASA STARS National Tour.
“To stay sharp, I went back home and ran a couple of APC Series races,” Steckly added. “We came up just 0.001 seconds short at Delaware, which stings a bit, but it was a great battle and a big confidence booster.
“Then to go back to Flamboro—one of my favorite tracks—and come away with a win after a strong day in practice, that felt really good. I feel like we’ve got some momentum now, and I’m hoping we can carry that into this weekend and finally get the results we know we’re capable of in the ASA STARS Tour.”
With just five races left after this weekend’s doubleheader, Steckly is focused on making some noise in the critical summer stretch — and putting Rette Jones Racing back on the map.
“This next stretch is where seasons are made or broken,” Steckly said. “We know what we’re capable of, and these next few races are our shot to prove it.
“I’m confident in the team, and I feel like we’ve started to turn that corner. Now it’s about executing and getting the results to match the effort everyone’s putting in.”
Currently sitting 12th in the championship standings after three races — and trailing the points leader by over 100 markers — the team is determined to chip away at the deficit. And there’s no better way to do that than by stacking up strong finishes.
“We’re not where we want to be in the standings, and we know that,” said Steckly. “But there’s still a lot of racing left, and this weekend gives us a real chance to start turning things around.
“If we can put together two strong runs — stay out of trouble and finish well — we’ll start closing that gap. That’s the mindset right now: be smart, be consistent, and let the results take care of themselves.”
Auto Parts Centres (APC) | Canusa will again be featured on Steckly’s No. 30 Ford Mustang this year in ASA STARS National Tour competition.

Mark Rette, Steckly’s crew chief and co-owner of Rette Jones Racing, understands the importance of the upcoming doubleheader and believes it could build on the momentum the team needs to get its season back on track.
“This weekend is huge for us,” said Rette. “We’ve shown flashes of what we’re capable of, but now it’s time to put it all together. A strong run at Madison and Slinger could really shift the momentum in our favor.
“Kyle’s been locked in, the team’s been working hard, and I truly believe we’re close to breaking back through.”
In addition to back-to-back APC United Late Model Series championships (2023 – 2024), Steckly’s accolades include seven APC United Late Model Series wins, the 2023 Grisdale Triple Crown Champion and Gold Rush 123 winner, along with multiple podium finishes in the NASCAR Canada Series.
